World Mental Health Day, 10 October

Posted on 6th October, 2013

We have been asked to publicise the following and since this is something that can touch everyone's lives we are happy to help.

10th October is World Mental Health Day. (click here for poster)

To celebrate, South East and Central Essex Mind will be holding an Open Day at our Jubilee Centre from 10am to 7pm

The aim of the day will be for anyone who has an interest in the provision of mental health services, as a volunteer, service provider or service user, to come along to our centre and hear presentations 10am, 12noon, 2pm, 4pm & 6pm on the range of services we deliver in Braintree, Castle Point, Chelmsford, Rochford, South Woodham Ferrers & Southend On Sea.

You will also be able to see the new Jubilee Centre.

The Jubilee Centre will offer a single point of information, a “One Stop Community Resource” dealing with all aspects of mental health or related issues. It will act as a comprehensive “One Stop Community Resource” working collaboratively with a range of organisations.

When fully completed (June 2014) The Jubilee Centre will offer Information, Advice and Guidance, Counselling, (with five designed suites), Advocacy, Day Activities space and a range of other community based activities.

To date, we have completed work on the reception area, where you will be able to wait for your appointments or just pick up information on a range of local services. It will also offer our Initial Enquiry Service, where individuals who are unsure what help and support the need can meet with one of our staff, who will work through a short assessment process before being signposted to a service offered within the Jubilee Centre or to other local services and the two activity rooms which are available to rent for meetings and group activities.

Although this centre is based in the heart of Southend, our aim is to develop similar centres in each locate in which we operate.

As part of our work to develop partnership working, we want to encourage groups to attend in order that they can learn about us and we can learn about the services they offer, so that we have the widest possible pool of local resource to signpost local people to.

Please come along and join us on World Mental Health Day from 10am to 7pm, but also please forward the attached post to groups and contacts in your local area.

Space is limited to 30 people per presentation, to avoid disappointment, please contact us on 01702 601123 to register your attendance.

We look forward to seeing you.

Kind Regards,

Anthony King

Chief Officer

South East and Central Essex Mind
